Day 78: Zhunan to Xiangshan (Hsinchu) April 2014

Zhunan Railway Station
Had a lovely day of walking. I took an early train from Taipei to Zhunan, and got started around 11:30am. The weather was nice, warm and sunny but not hot and with a breeze.

An old shop from yesteryear

A curved street means an old one
Zhunan turned out to be an interesting place. It would probably be a bit boring to live there, but had a certain vibrancy to it. In particular, the market area north of the train station was just full of life.

Into the hustle and bustle of Zhunan

People, shops, fruit and scooters

Looks like a good cafe to have a little ...

Getting our of town

Almost at the sea

Longfong fishing port
When I got to the fishing harbor the wind was pretty brisk. But fortunately there was a great path just near the beach that gave cover from the wind, as well as shade. It was actually a very pleasant afternoon's walk.

Onward!

Many kms of a nice bike and walking path

These pictures don't show it, but there were lots of cyclists on the trail.

Old pump, still in use

Old farm

Some lovely sand

An ROC ROK happiness windmill tourist attraction, Yay!
I took a break to eat a snack and rest my weary feet. The area around here was really nice: windswept sand dunes, tidal flats and mangrove.

More dunes

Tidal flats, great for birds

Mangroves

Looking back
Finally time to go back to Taipei. Fortunately, the train tracks were very close to the seaside.

Xiangshan, Hsinchu

Happily headed homeward
                                         Chiunk! Fizz! Slurrp! Aaaaaah!
