Day 80! I'm finished! Oops, wait! Not quite! Well, pretty close anyway. Hsinchu is not far. It's not far now.
The day was another inland excursion, the last of my coastal walk. But I couldn't resist the temptation to check out Hsinchu a bit. The place has always been a bit of an enigma to me: It seemed like a gigantic small town, rather than a small city. It is full of well to do managers and top flight IT companies, but had a somewhat hickish feel to it. So I thought I would take a closer look.
It was a bit shabby but did have a few points of interest for the casual visitor.

There were a lot of stray dogs running around on this apparently little-used bike path.

After several hours of grey skies and grey views, the weather brightened, as did the scenery.

The Xinfeng area north of Hsinchu City proper was not bad to walk through. There is a university there, so lots of small cheap eateries and young people out and about, which is always nice. It was also obviously and industrial area, but somehow not too dirty of stinky.

Then my route left the main road, and followed smaller country tracks to Hukou, where I got my train home.
Grabbed some beer and ran for the train, just making it!
